You NEED to watch Jon Stewarts impassioned RIP on Congress, specifically Congressman Cliff Stearns, regarding the Zadroga Bill.

Basically, before 911 first responders can get money for the cancers and other illness they have gotten from responding to the most heinous attack on American soil in 50 years, they have to be checked against the terrorist watch list.

i can’t do justice to explaining why this is such asshattery. Congressman Henry Waxman is an asshat too. He’s always an asshat so, as a Republican myself, I’m mostly concerned with the asshattery of Cliff Stearns, 911 first responder hater.

wasn’t fucking aroundI could see in his eyes that he wasn’t fucking around. I think that if there wasn’t a studio audience to laugh and provide feedback, Jon would have either cried or seriously used the word “fuck”, several orders of a magnitude, more than he did.

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) is raising some eyebrows with a comment he made about the U.S. territory of Guam during a House Armed Services Committee hearing last Thursday.

In a discussion regarding a planned military buildup on the Pacific island, Johnson expressed some concerns about the plans to Adm. Robert Willard, head of the U.S. Pacific fleet.

“My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize,” Johnson said. Willard paused and replied, “We don’t anticipate that.”

If you know anything about Neil Armstrong then you know it’s uncharacteristic for him to speak publicly much, let alone come out with both guns blasting. While I think “blasting” and “rebuke” are a little harsh for what I read of Armstrong’s comments, I came away after reading them with a sense of pride and disgust.

Pride when I think of the accomplishments of men like Neil Armstrong, James Lovell and Gene Cernan and total disgust at men like Barack Obama. President Obama seems determined to drag America down to mediocrity and for a man like Neil Armstrong to write this letter says volumes about what people MUCH better and more accomplished think.

for a suspension of the worlds’ democracies in order to fight climate

I suppose it’s not entirely the end users fault, they are trained to not touch the computers or computer related equipment but some of them just seem to removed their brains at the same time. Why does IT have to move printers, monitors and keyboards? Why do we have to unpack the damned boxes or carry the boxes around?? Why can’t users replace their own goddamed TONER!??!

My friends in the IT Administration industry and I have an ongoing joke about writing an extremely detailed email, outlining the problem in plain English, trying to anticipate, after 15+ years as a professional in the industry, the questions the email will raise and try to outline the ramifications of the email to all end users involved. Using double spaced text, Verdana, so it can be read, lots of whitespace and a few cartoons to lesson the impact.
