Hell Freezes Over in Vector Form
Holy freaking crap!! This is AWESOME news! Hopefully, SVG will become a first class technology in Internet Explorer 9!! No more work arounds, no more VML kludges! This is great news.
As a part of Microsoft’s continued commitment to interoperability and standards support, yesterday we submitted our request to join the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) Working Group of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). We’re excited to take part in ensuring future versions of the SVG spec will meet the needs of developers and end users.

I have liked to bash Microsoft in the past and most of it was deserved starting with Netscape Navigator in the ’90′s. However, there is a definite softening, which I think is directly due to BillG stepping aside. Is this softening due to Ray Ozzie or people like Steve Sinofsky? I don’t know but maybe, just maybe Internet Explorer 9 will be a gigantic step forward and erase the permanent stain of IE6 & IE7.
