Why Is the Search Engine War Over?
I just thought that I would show this graph of my traffic stats. It shows the search engines and how many times they’ve spidered my site. The time frame doesn’t matter. Think of it as one day, or one week or one month. It’s the ratio that is important.
What’s worse is that normally there is only one search engine on this chart…yep…Dogpile. Just kidding, it’s Googlebot of course.
This is why the search engine wars are over. There is nothing right now or in the next 2-5 years that can catch Google. Not Kumo, not Yahoo, not Cuil (anyone ever visit that one again after launch?). Nobody.
Microsoft is the only one that could do it and only if they invested a billion dollars and some of the best minds in the industry and only after 2-3 years.
