I don’t know if you saw this or not, of course since I’m writing to myself these days probably not, but I do a lot of WordPressW stuff and looking for a decent WordPress plugin for Social tagging and bookmarking for this site, I found the Open Share Icon Project.

Design notes: What you see is one cupped hand passing “something” to another cupped
hand (as in “pass it on” or “sharing”), and at the same time works as an “eye” reference (as in “look at this”).

I think it looks pretty damned good and I like the idea. One of these days I’m going to get around to redoing this site to include the icon. In the meantime check out this chart that they did against ShareThis.

There are plenty of social plugins for WP.
The one I use is called Sociable.
I never heard of Open Share Icon, but might give it a try.

I’m actually using Sociable here on the site. It’s right under the “I Don’t Come to Your Site Without Bookmarking You…Bookmark this Post!”
I think that the purpose of the Open Share Icon is to get us out from the diabolical hand of ShareThis and their plans to dominate the world with their collection of user stats.
