OneSwarm, TwoSwarm, RedSwarm, BlueSwarm
David Barrett posted this today on Quinthar about a new P2P network. The Internet is like the Hydra, chop off one head and 15 more pop up to take it’s place. I totally agree with David’s last statement “Keep pushing, RIAA. You’re giving
birth
to a
very angry child. You’re giving birth to a very angry child.”
Right or wrong, people want to share music online. They want to be able to download it anytime, anywhere and someone is always going to find a technological way to provide that. RIAA screwed up so badly when they didn’t make a deal with Napster 10 years ago and then continue to screw up with DRM, suing grandmothers and single mothers. Greed continues to screw them when they don’t make deals with iTunes and other online delivery systems.
So what happens? OneSwarm and then TwoSwarm and GoogleSwarm. It won’t stop. RIAA, embrace the new century. Stop trying to fight the inevitable.
As predicted by many (including me), there’s a new P2P network on the block with built-in onionskin routing: OneSwarm.
Even better, it’s backwards compatible with BitTorrent, and they tossed in always-on “web-of-trust” encryption just for fun.
Keep pushing, RIAA. You’re giving birth to a very angry child. And if you think it’s painful now, just wait until it grows up.
