I’ve been predicting this for 10 years at the very least and any science fiction fan worth their salt knew this was coming. I personally, aside from the ethical considerations and the pro-life nutbags, think it’s exciting. Do I want a blond haired, blue eyed, Arian monster with no health problems? Fuck yeah!

Now this is just embryos screening so the ethics are are big deal. What do you do with the embryos that don’t meet your needs? Stem cell research…? Garbage can? Sticky wicket.

The really cool trick with be taking the sperm and the egg BEFORE they meet and mixing the right concotion without the problem of disposing of the embryos. 2, 3 more years? 10 tops.

The Fertility Institutes proudly claims this is just the tip of the iceberg, and plans to offer almost any conceivable customization as science makes them available. Even as couples from across the globe are flocking in droves to pay the company their life’s savings for a custom baby, opponents are vilifying the company for shattering moral and ethical boundaries. Like it or not, the era of designer babies is officially here and there is no going back.
