The news that a more modern IE version(v. 9) is coming is just getting us all mad at our software company. Why, because once the new version of IE is out, we developers are sure that will be as buggy as older versions (history has taught us this) so that we must then write more code to make things compatible.

The fact that IE is finally catching up with some of the modern web standards: SVG, HTML5, that have been there for a big while is definitely good. They should have adopted those standards a while ago. They are still enclosed in the proprietary way of viewing things. They said they will have H264 over Ogg? that is so unwise...

Update: Looks like IE9 is going to have at least basic support for SVG. This is a good thing. While I would love for SVG to gain first class native support in *Windows* I'm not holding my breath for that one.

Even if IE support SVG and canvas in the next release, this will suck

look at what they did with CCS.
IE6, IE7 and IE8(css3) can handle properly CSS and its a damn mess when trying to make something look cool on all big browser.

Why peaple still using IE it's ridiculous, google can and need to make something. To throw MS IE in a garbage. like release youtube in a better version wirh html5, css3, svg and canvas...etc... not eberyone will make the switch but. IMO most of the pleaple using IE are loose and dont really give a fuck, till facebook, youtube and google search are working

I think the fact that the entire windows operating system is not friendly with SVG or any other standards for that matter is the problem. Internet Explorer is only a small part of the operating system.

Ubuntu lets use use SVG as your wallpaper and it uses it as the default image format in its applications. Firefox is a component of Ubuntu just as Idiot Exploiter is a component of Windows.

I hate to break this to you, but IE9 will likely suck regardless of whether or not it supports SVG.

See http://a.deveria.com/caniuse/static.html for more info.
