Internet Explorer 9 Will Suck Without SVG Support
I don’t know if you have used SVG style vector graphics. I have. A lot. I hate that no version of Internet Explorer supports this format (including the recently release Internet Explorer 8).![]()
Please, for the sake of the Internet adopting a great file format that saves space, is scalable at different resolutions, push Microsoft to adopt this. While we are at it, let’s get them to implement Canvas too.
Just for the record, Firefox, Opera and Safari all support at least a limited version of SVG.
Another chatter said XHTML+MathML support would help students and others who need to publish math-centric content on the Web. A Microsoft official said Microsoft is hearing “lots of requests for this feature, as well as for scalable vector graphics (SVG), “both of which add richer presentation to the Web.” But he made no promises that these would be part of IE 9.

p.s. This is all predicated, of course, on Microsoft continuing on with Internet Explorer development at all.
p.p.s. Join the Revolution…kill Internet Explorer 6.

I hate to break this to you, but IE9 will likely suck regardless of whether or not it supports SVG.

I think the fact that the entire windows operating system is not friendly with SVG or any other standards for that matter is the problem. Internet Explorer is only a small part of the operating system.
Ubuntu lets use use SVG as your wallpaper and it uses it as the default image format in its applications. Firefox is a component of Ubuntu just as Idiot Exploiter is a component of Windows.

Even if IE support SVG and canvas in the next release, this will suck
look at what they did with CCS.
IE6, IE7 and IE8(css3) can handle properly CSS and its a damn mess when trying to make something look cool on all big browser.
Why peaple still using IE it’s ridiculous, google can and need to make something. To throw MS IE in a garbage. like release youtube in a better version wirh html5, css3, svg and canvas…etc… not eberyone will make the switch but. IMO most of the pleaple using IE are loose and dont really give a fuck, till facebook, youtube and google search are working

Update: Looks like IE9 is going to have at least basic support for SVG. This is a good thing. While I would love for SVG to gain first class native support in *Windows* I’m not holding my breath for that one.
