Daniel Pataki over at gHacks posted this nice article about using the WordPress API, specifically the Wordpress Template Tags, to do more with your blog.
wordpress How to Hack Wordpress

If you’ve been developing themes, or taking a go at modifying your own, chances are you’ve run into the Wordpress Template Tags page. This part of the Wordpress Codex lists numerous functions you can use to customize your themes quickly and easily, even if you’re just stepping into the wonderful world of modifying your blog, it’s worth a look.
Do more with your Wordpress using the function reference

I’ve been messing around with Wordpress for a while now and I have to agree very much with Daniel’s assessment of the Wordpress API. It’s very clean, thought out and easy to use. One issue that I have had with the function reference is that there are functions that are less (read not) documented or completed.

I would encourage anyone that has some time or knowledge to visit the Wordpress API reference and flesh out some of the functions. If you’ve used Wordpress and want to “give back”, this could be a nice way to do it.

p.s. While I’m thinking about clean, thought out and easy to use code, 5ubliminal is another coder (often hacking on Wordpress) that has some nice functions and routines and is definitely worth checking out. Here is a recent article on the PHP DOM getElementsByTagName function. He leans towards the Blackhat side of things so that might be another reason to check out how he codes.
