I have to admit that this news of four upcoming X-Men movies has me having mixed feelings. X-Men: Deadpool, X-Men: Wolverine II, X-Men: Magneto and X-Men: First Class.

Twentieth Century Fox has begun development on “Deadpool,” an “X-Men” spinoff that will be crafted as a star vehicle for Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

Fox is also in the formative stages of a “Wolverine” sequel that will encompass the samurai storyline that was hinted at as Wolverine sat in a bar in Japan as the film concluded (Daily Variety, May 4).

Separately, Fox is developing “Magneto,” a film about the X-Men villain with a script by Sheldon Turner, and “X-Men: First Class,” which Josh Schwartz is penning.

Ok, I love me some X-Men. I really do. The first movie was great right up until the second one blew it away with Wolvies out of control destruction of Strikers men in the mansion. The third one while not quite as good as the second was still entertaining and great (still head and shoulders better than the first).

I haven’t seen X-Men: Origins Wolverine yet but I’ve been toying with the idea every night this week since Friday.

Having said all of that…oh and I watch the X-Men movies everytime they are on FX…I’m not sure that four more movies won’t dilute the impact of comic book movies in general. Too much of a good thing is still too much of a thing. Too much McRibs will still make you vomit.
